Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to instruct the agent to pay the patent annuity after the validation has been performed?

It is not possible to instruct the agent through iPify after the validation has been performed. Should you wish to do it, we would be happy to connect you with the agent if necessary.

Is it possible to ask the agent to monitor the patent annuity due date and to wait for further instructions?

Neither iPify nor the agent will monitor the patent annuity due date unless a payment instruction has been received.

Is it possible to ask the local agent to pay any future patent annuities unless instructed otherwise?

The agent will only be asked to pay the patent annuity due within 12 months of the grant.

Will the local agent inform me about the due date for any subsequent patent annuity?

The agent will only take care of any patent annuity due within 12 months of the grant and will not monitor the due date of any subsequent patent annuity.

Why is the option to pay the first patent annuity missing in some jurisdictions?

Country-specific rules dictate when the patent annuity is possible, therefore the system will recognize when a patent annuity is due within 12 months of the grant (or 18 months following the intent to grant date).
