# Power of attorney deadlines: What are they and where can I find them?

## In this article, we'll cover how to find out the general rule for PoA deadlines in a jurisdiction and how you can find a specific deadline for your case.

Some jurisdictions require a PoA to be filed alongside the validation (or at least within a certain timeframe of the validation). Each jurisdiction has its own rules for when it should be submitted.   
  
**General information on deadlines to submit a Power of attorney** 

For your general information on submission deadlines for powers of attorneys, type the jurisdiction name you want to gather the information on. If a POA is necessary in that jurisdiction, you will find the deadline to submit requirements. 

**\> Italy example**

In the search bar at the top of the page, enter the full name of the country of interest to locate the legal requirements across the numerous services.

Under “Legal requirements”, click the service area for which you want to understand the PoA deadlines.

E.g. by clicking on “Filing a validation for a granted European patent (B1) this page appears:

Scroll down to “Representation Documents” to discover the Power of attorney requirements including, of course, the deadline to submit a PoA.

**Case-specific power of attorney deadlines**

In applicable jurisdictions, you can locate the case-specific deadline to file a PoA following these steps:

🗒️**Note:**

The deadline is only generated when a validation is filed without the PoA, thus triggering the conditions of the country's legal requirement. 

**Italy example**

Search for your patent and click on it.

By default, you will land on the summary page.

Click the jurisdiction - in this case Italy.
